I stitched the egg in startling colors on purpose, because I wanted to use some of the DMC variegated floss.

The Herald of Spring

OK, I know that robins might have been around all winter, especially since our winter was so mild, but I saw my first robin of March last week. I'm remembering him as I stitch this freebie by Bent Creek:

Progress on Winter Heart

I woke to see a flock of turkey buzzards sailing overhead. It's supposed to be 65 degrees out today, and sunny! I'm still in winter stitching, trying to get this Winter Heart (Passione Ricamo freebie)  finished. Here is my progress so far:

Give Thanks Finished

I finished "Give Thanks," even though I've been suffering from a bad cold all weekend. Now I need to iron it and find a nice frame.

This is the first large-count piece that I've done in quite a while. I'm happy with it and want to display it for Thanksgiving. I changed some of the colors. I like it so much that I might do one more and give it to a friend.

French Freebies

I recommend the site "Le Chalet des Perelles." Cathy will send you her beautiful freebies by email. I got three of them yesterday.

Don't be disappointed if she does not reply for a while--you will get them. They are very pretty designs. I got a bird on a nest, and two different house designs.

Maison Fleurie Mistake

I bound this over the mat board and was all set to finish the pinkeep when I noticed a big mistake. Yep, I left out the bluebird. Now I must remove the piece from the mat board. I don't glue mine--I sew the selvedges together in the back, with long stitches.

Carinne's Birds in Tree Freebie

I stitched several bird designs in the past couple of weeks, and this is one of them. It is "Aux Plaisir des Oiseaux," a freebie by carinne. I changed the colors a little and used some overdyed thread on the flowers. I want to stitch this again, but employ a different color scheme. It is a very pleasing design.

Souvenir de France--My Version

This is my version of BBD's "Souvenir de France."

One of my dreams is to visit France someday. Right now, the closest I get is via one of Cara Black's mysteries. This piece incorporates BBD's Eiffel Tower design as well as motifs from Dover Publications Anne Orr charted design books.

From bottom left, going clockwise around:

a crown to represent past royalty; a lily; a heart for romance; a little bird; grapes on the vine; a butterfly for happiness; a stylized marguerite (daisy); decorative scroll work to evoke the magnificence of historic architecture; and "liberte" to acknowledge the transition to the republic.

Free Valentine Cross Stitch Chart

This is a free chart that I designed. I downloaded a free PDF software but it is not working. You need to right-click on the image and save it to your computer. On printer set-up, you will need to shrink the image to fit an 8 1/2 " X 11" paper.

Mine is stitched on 28ct. white Monaco. The picture was not taken in good light.
