A Biscornu Finished

This biscornu is finished, and the accompanying scissor case needs to be stitched together along the sides:

The red "L' is a mess--it turned out too narrow because I added a very stiff piece of polyester lining. I will embroider another "L" case, using a smaller (and more recognizable) "L" today. I omitted the stiff stuff in the spring case, so that will be wide enough. I don't like the directions that I used and should have trusted my instincts from the beginning.

Return to Blogging/ Stitching Update

Well, I feel much better and have the energy to take up this blog again.

While I was recuperating, I worked on Boo Jack:

and finished the two squares for a biscornu:

and I purchased some kits to stitch for Christmas presents:

including this gorgeous peacock, which I hope to finish for my daughter's Xmas present:

and I started AND finished one of the small kits this past weekend:

It came out great! The only way that these can be displayed is with an easel stand. I plan to get clear stands for all of them. This one is for a birthday present for a friend. I highly recommend these for a quick gift. I got mine on sale from Joann.com and with the free shipping coupon that week, they were a fantastic buy.

I plan to do some work on this blog (add a counter, etc) and do my own free charts over into PDFs that can be easily accessed. I'm going to make a schedule of visiting a certain number of bookmarked blogs each day, that way I'll be able to keep up with all the latest news and stitching.

I see Becky SC is not blogging due to illness in the family, and I can sympathize, especially when cancer is involved.

I should not be posting this, but I wanted you to see my progress. This is a design from Emily at The Floss Box.

Biscornu Finished At Last

This is the last of the dozen biscornus that I started last year for the Basket of Biscornu SAL. The design is repeating butterflies and is taken from one of Anne Orr's books (Dover Publications).

All of my biscornus are above in my blog title picture. I gave two away as presents, so there are ten shown.

Bramble Biscornu

This is a biscornu that I stitched. The chart is from Jane Ile's "Cross Stitch from A Country Garden."

May Biscornu

This is my biscornu for May, stitched as part of the Basket of Biscornu challenge. It is on 28 ct. tea-colored linen, and the design is 1/4 of an herb pillow chart from the book "Country Garden Cross Stitch," by Jane Iles.

My April Biscornu

This is the biscornu that I stitched for my April entry in the Basket of Biscornu SAL. This is a freebie design from the web. It has the word "esther" in the file name. I can't remember the site from where I downloaded it.

It reminded me of tulips open and closed, so I stitched them in two shades of pink. I placed green seed beads in the center. I'm sorry that the photo is out of focus.

My Icelandic Biscornu

This is a biscornu that I stitched as my January goal for the "Basket of Biscornu" blog. The goal is to stitch one biscornu each month of the year, so that at the end of 2009 each of us will have completed a dozen biscornus--enough to fill a display basket. I didn't have a button so I put four glass seed beads in the centers. The top and bottom are the same.

The pattern is the inner square from "Icelandic Biscornu," from The Gift of Stitching digital magazine. I chose to make mine in shades of blue, on a white Lugana background.
