First Day of Autumn

The first day of autumn is upon us. Here are some scarlet berries of the dogwood tree.

"Go, sit upon the lofty hill
 And turn your eyes around,
Where waving woods and waters wild
 Do hymn an autumn sound.
The summer sun is faint on them --
 The summer flowers depart --
Sit still -- as all transform'd to stone,
  Except your musing heart."
                      from "The Autumn,"
                  Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Today I will be finishing my two squares for the Fair & Square Round 26. My partner is Jill.

Happy stitching!

Thanks for commenting on my blog! At the moment it doesn't feel much like autumn around here. I'm hoping that will change soon. It did feel like autumn a few days ago. Sigh.

I love the poem you chose; I haven't read that one before. The dogberries are laden down with red here too :) The first sign of Autumn!
